[...] A Great Post - Huzzah! Dr. Reggie Kidd posted an awesome article on his blog on the Betrayal of the West. His observations match my recent experience in the Middle East and previous knowledge. The Global War on Terror is a battle to the death for either the West or the Islamists. There is no in between. The sooner that the West wakes up and sees the empty secularism is no match for radical Islam, the greater our chances of survival. [...]

"Huzzah! Huzzah! Huzzah!" for this post, for it truly made me want to run around on Telegraph Avenue in Berkeley (where I currently sit in a coffee shop) rocking to Heavy Metal Music waving a shield and brandishing a sword. Oh, wait a minute, it seems someone has already beat me to it. Oh that I could borrow his garb sans the pink tutu. Anyway, this really was an inspiring post. What a reminder that we are bold with our allegiances couched in an intense love for our enemies unmatched by the pagans or the Pharisees (per Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount). We just talked about this passage in church last week. Bonhoeffer's plea that the differential for Christians is the sacrificial love found at the cross. It was sobering to be reminded that Jesus assumes that Christians will love better than anyone else on the planet. Is that our differential? Hardly in these days it seems. Anyway, way to go Reggie. I appreciate your pen. By the way, for those interested, there is an interesting article in New York Times magazine (August 17) by Mark Lilla entitled, "God's Politics." Lilla endeavors to help the "secular west" understand that a faith-based politic has prevailed globally and we best learn the vernacular lest we misunderstand the global situation. Reggie, your post reminded me of this article.
