Yeah, thanks for the background on Nic. (social and etymoligical) and for your transparency. Glad to have a prof who watches House, is probably chomping at the bit for the new U2 album but can still parse Greek. It's also cool that you could chop me cleanly in two with a katana! I remember your telling about being a cocky seminary grad working at McDonalds. I have been trying to sort out my RTS education for the past 3 years here in Japan. This post was really encouraging. I'm still looking for answers, zipping my lip and sitting tight at my Lord's feet. Later!

Painfully slow and plodding reader that i am, i unfashionably do not spend a lot of time in the blogosphere. But your posts, Reverend Kidd, i try never to miss.

You throw down tonnage of deep thought, mightily drenched in heart-stuff, all spun in such creative wordplay, delightful cultural references and vulnerable self-disclosure. This is the happy living extension of word made flesh.

Your writing, my friend, is evidence to me that the Eternal Logos has a place in much wider public discourse than just the Sunday morning pulpit. You invigorate and motivate us all to show up, shut up and be amazed at the wonder of it all.

As always, thank you!

Great stuff. I spend too much of my life trying to find excuses not to show up, explaining and defending my often foolish ways, and abandoning those in tough spots. You've challenged me to show up, shut up, hang in and trust.
